Marie Nemeh - My family arrived in Canada in the sixties from Egypt. Suleiman Nehme left lebanon (Salhyé) around 1860 and established himself in Egypt. 100 years after, my family left Egypt for social and political reasons (again) and we are now in Canada. Among all those migrations, I have lived many years in South America (Chile) and my 19 years old son is Chilean, Canadian, Lebanese... I am very interested in the history of the region of Salhyé and Saida and the events that led to the departure of many Christians. I sometimes feel that we are an " an endangered species" and that we will disappear in our specificity. I do not cling to the past, I live in the present, and this is also part of being Lebanese. We move, we adapt, and often we succeed. My interest is to find out about my origins, at all levels, personal, historical, political. I would be grateful if people from Salhyé read this message and suggest readings or provide information. Thank you all, and my kindest regards.
