Get in touch with Diane Fakhry!
 |
Diane Fakhry - My father was Richard FAKHRY and he was born in Lebanon (I'm pretty sure in Bsharri) He came to Australia as a child (with at his father Latoof Fakhry, we don't know about his mother whether she came too or stayed in Lebanon) and was educated at Xavier school in Melbourne. I believe he graduated there about 1890. He became medical doctor and studied at University of Cinncinatti USA before returning to Melbourne where practiced until his death. He had an arranged marriage to my mother in the very early part of last century to Mariahiza NEDER who was born in Rio de Janiero and was the daughter of Salamao NEDER. Her mother in turn was born Mathide Mercaldo and was from Buenevento Italy. She was the founding mother of the Neder family in Brazil. We are keen to contact any people with Lebanese
connections from Bsarri. Particularly anyone having early knowledge of Latoof Fakhry, Callil (Khallil?) Fakhry who migrated to Melbourne. Or the Neder family who migrated to Brazil or the USA in the late 1800's. We believe the arranged marriage deal (Neder/Fakhry may have been done
in Bsharri, because Richard certainly travelled there for the marriage , similarly his soon to be wife travelled from Rio de Janeiro for the ceremony and family celebrations. We'd love to know more of course and we do have some interesting stuff to swap and even some early photos.Retired Templestowe - Melbourne, Australia Bsharri - 1916 Record Created on January 18th, 2001
